Outboard motor or Sterndrive

A great help here is the angle adjustment of the stern drive or outboard motor in relation to the ship’s transversal axis.
The use of trim tabs is for adjustment in the latitudinal axis. Think of a ship with a deep V-bottom that often falls over to one side while planing. This is very uncomfortable and tiring over a long period of time. Zipwake solves this problem.

Propellor shaft systems

A sliding or semi-sliding motor boat with a propeller shaft system can be adjusted with Zipwake Trim Tabs in both the longitudinal and transversal axis. These ships have a relatively quiet sailing behaviour. Both quietly sailing and while planing The big difference after installing Zipwake’s Dynamic Trim Tabs system, is the much more favourable fuel consumption. The fully automatic trimming by the Zipwake system increases comfort

Outboard motor or Sterndrive

At AB-Marineservice.com we supply a large range of Permanent Magnet DC Motors for driving the hydraulic pump. Oil pressure is used to operate the tilt cylinders in the stern drive or the outboard motor.

For the adjustment in the transversal axis, use Trim Tabs. Think of a ship with a deep V-bottom that often falls over to one side while planing. This is very uncomfortable and tiring over a long period of time.

Trim tabs on ships with a propeller shaft

The reason for the application of Zipwake Trim Tabs for a boat, is to reduce your fuel consumption. That can easily mean a difference of decilitres per hour. The purchase costs are recovered relatively quickly. Trimming in the transversal axis is also important to keep the boat upright when planing. Trimming the bow down when sailing at low speed, helps to increase course keeping and makes steering easier. It also reduces the bow wave, which is much appreciated by other waterway users.

How do you make the right choice?

The rule of thumb for the right amount of interceptors for your ship is, 70% of the ship’s stern.
Too much is not possible, the dynamic system regulates the right amount of trim power.
Below you will find the calculation formula:
