The electrical switching and working relays are a common component in electrical systems of engines and installations. With an electrical relay, you can switch a large or different current on or off with a relatively small current, often a multiple of the control current. This saves thick cables and unnecessary load on contacts. In fact, you switch a larger one with a small switch by means of a magnetic coil and a contact.
The contacts can be made of copper or silver, silver contacts can handle high currents better.
Often the control voltage with which the relay can be switched on is mentioned first, such as 6V 12V or 24V. In addition, the maximum current that the relay can switch is then given in Amps.
A so-called mini relay can often only switch a maximum current and cannot withstand peaks above that. Working or high-power relays are, as the name suggests, more for the heavier work, and here you often see a second maximum amperage listed short/long, for example, when switching on a motor, a high peak first occurs.
