Diesel feed pump

Cruising on an empty tank is obviously never convenient when you have a long way to go, but it is also unwise on a technical level. This is because fuel has a cooling function for the feed pump, fuel pump and injectors of your diesel engine. Therefore, keep your tank as full as possible, at least for a quarter. This also prevents condensation on the wall of the tank during cooling. In short, for your diesel engine’s feed pump to work optimally, there must be enough fuel in your tank.

Diesel feed pump broken

A few times a year it is necessary to do some maintenance in the engine room, which will help you prevent your diesel engine’s feed pump from breaking down. Check the (pre)filters and other parts. Sometimes there is even a mesh in the pump, you can often see this on the cover on the feed pump. You can then loosen it with a central bolt. Clean these components and make sure nothing is clogged. If you have any doubts about the operation of the feed pump, you can always use the manual feed pump siphon to try whether pressure can still be built up.
