Description
Autoprop H20 zinc propeller anode
This zinc propeller anode is designed for the Autoprop H20 marine propeller and serves as a sacrificial anode to protect metal components of the propeller assembly against galvanic corrosion.
Underwater, different metals can be affected by electrochemical processes. A zinc sacrificial anode helps reduce this deterioration because, with the correct electrical connection, the zinc corrodes preferentially instead of the metal components it is intended to protect.
Technical dimensions
The propeller anode has the following dimensions according to the corresponding technical drawing:
- h – Height: 33.00 mm
- a – Width: 50.00 mm
- i – Mounting hole centre distance: 49.00 mm
- Ø – Outer diameter: 60.00 mm
- Ø1 – Inner diameter: 35.00 mm
- Ø2 – Mounting hole diameter: 6.50 mm
Suitable for Autoprop marine propellers
This anode is intended for the Autoprop H20 propeller version. The anode has a dome-shaped design with two mounting points.
Separate anodes are available for other Autoprop models and versions, including the APS H20 saildrive version. These may differ in shape, height, mounting arrangement and dimensions.
Therefore, before ordering, check the existing anode and compare its dimensions, mounting holes and fitting shape with the technical drawing.
When should a propeller anode be replaced?
A zinc anode gradually corrodes during use. This is a normal part of how a sacrificial anode works.
Regularly inspect the anode for wear, crumbling and material loss. When a significant amount of the zinc has been consumed, the anode must be replaced. Follow the propeller manufacturer’s maintenance instructions.
It is also advisable to inspect the anode and its mounting when the boat is lifted out of the water. Timely replacement helps prevent corrosion damage to the propeller assembly.
Installation and maintenance
When replacing the anode, remove the old one and check the mounting points for damage and contamination. Ensure that the new anode fits correctly in its designated mounting position.
Install the anode according to Autoprop’s instructions and use suitable mounting hardware. After installation, check that the anode is securely attached.
Do not apply paint or any other sealing coating to the zinc anode. This may reduce its protective effectiveness.
Important considerations
This version is made of zinc and is primarily intended for use in saltwater environments. The most suitable anode alloy depends on the water environment and the manufacturer’s specifications.
Always check the exact Autoprop model when replacing the anode. The H20 and APS H20 do not necessarily use the same anode.
