Description
VETUS thermostat 71°C M2/M3 – STM3521
The VETUS STM3521 is a thermostat for the internal cooling system of various VETUS M2 and M3 marine diesel engines. The thermostat regulates coolant circulation depending on the engine temperature and begins to open at approximately 71°C.
When the engine is cold, the coolant flow remains restricted so that the engine reaches the correct operating temperature more quickly. As the temperature rises, the thermostat opens further and allows more coolant to flow through the cooling system.

Importance of a properly functioning thermostat
A defective thermostat can cause the engine to warm up too slowly, run too cold or receive insufficient cooling. A properly functioning thermostat helps keep the engine within the correct temperature range and supports reliable operation of the cooling system.
Installation and maintenance
When replacing the thermostat, also check the thermostat housing and associated gasket. It is recommended to replace the gasket when the thermostat housing is opened, so that a reliable seal of the cooling system is maintained.
