Volvo Penta standard control cables are made from corrosion-resistant materials with an HD polyethylene outer casing. They are designed according to Volvo Penta’s extremely strict requirements for efficient operation with minimal play. The cables are permanently lubricated to ensure minimal friction and a long service life. Two cables are required for single-engine installations and four cables for twin-engine installations.
It is very important to select the exact cable length, as fewer bends result in better operation and durability. Measure the distance between the control mechanism and the engine/transmission connections as straight as possible. Allow a 200 mm radius for all bends. Adjust the cable length as shown in the illustration: L = A + B + 200 mm. If the measurement falls between two standard cable lengths, choose the longer cable. The cables must not be cut to size.
