Volvo Penta control cable 21633477 is an original standard mechanical control cable of approximately 1.8 metres for throttle and shift control on board. This cable transfers the movement of the control lever to the engine and reverse gear, allowing smooth and precise throttle and shift operation. A worn, stiff or damaged cable can cause difficult shifting, delayed response or inaccurate control. Timely replacement helps prevent problems with throttle and shift control. This part replaces the older Volvo Penta part number 1140174.

Volvo Penta standard control cables are made from corrosion-resistant material with an HD polyethylene outer sheath. They are designed according to Volvo Penta’s extremely strict requirements for efficient operation with minimal play. They are permanently lubricated to ensure minimal friction and a long service life. For single-engine installations, two cables are required; for twin-engine installations, four are required.

It is very important to select the exact cable length, as fewer bends mean better operation and durability. Measure as straight as possible the distance between the control mechanism and the engine/transmission connections. Allow a radius of 200 mm for all bends. Adjust the cable as shown in the image L = A + B + 200 mm. If the measurement falls between two standard cable lengths, choose the longer cable. The cables must not be cut to size.
