Volvo Penta standard control cables are made from corrosion-resistant material with an outer sheath of HD polyethylene. They are designed according to the extremely strict Volvo Penta requirements for efficient operation with minimal play. They are permanently lubricated to ensure minimal friction and a long lifespan. For single engine installations, two cables are required, and for dual engine installations, four are needed.
It is very important to select the exact cable length. Fewer bends result in better operation and durability. Measure the distance as straight as possible between the control mechanism and the engine/transmission connections. For all bends, calculate a radius of 200 mm. Adjust the cable as shown in the image L = A + B + 200 mm. If the measurement falls between two standard cable lengths, choose the longer cable. Cables should not be cut to size.
